Our team were recently awarded a large commercial project in Birmingham, where the team were required to upgrade the current failing Access Control System at No.1 Colmore Square.
The Customer
No.1 Colmore Square are second to none in the heart of Birmingham’s commercial business district.
Occupying a prominent position in Birmingham’s bustling commercial heart, the revered Colmore Business, No.1 Colmore Square offers a unique opportunity for office space in the city’s most sought-after location. Recently remastered to a superb standard, the building is already home to blue chip businesses including financial services giant EY, global property firm Cushman & Wakefield.
The Challenges
Housing two of the biggest firms in the region, who occupy a large amount of the building we were tasked with upgrading a failing access control system with a new Avigilon IP Access Control System whilst causing minimal disruption and avoiding any access issues for the busy tenants.
Not only did we have the challenge of avoiding disruption but this project was completed in the peak of the Coronavirus Pandemic and our engineers made sure that not only did they keep themselves safe but all tenants, staff and visitors on site.
The Solution
We proposed an Avigilon IP Access Control system which can be integrated into the Avigilon IP CCTV System which is budgeted for in the future. To eliminate the costs of implementing a complete set of new Access Control Cards and the time to input all the information into the system (being that there are just short of 5,000 users). CSI downloaded all the card and user information from the old obsolete Access Control System and inputted the data into a CSV file to enable the easy programming of the data onto the new Access Control System.
To help with visitor access and to avoid contact during the currently climate, CSI installed mobile ready HID Access Control Card Readers and non-touch request to exit buttons. Users can now access the premises with a flash of their own mobile phone or from the comfort of their own vehicle
The system has been integrated onto the facilities IT Network, which enables security, reception and facilities the access onto the system to make any necessary changes. This has proven to speed up the process for the tenants to gain access to the building.
The Results
Upon completion Compass Security Innovations Ltd were awarded the maintenance contract for the Access Control and CCTV System on site along with the chance to upgrade the full CCTV System. Due to the service provided by Compass Security Innovations Ltd and the quality of the product installed the Landlord made the decision to move forward with Avigilon and will now specify any future Installations are Avigilon.
Following on from the success of the project, Compass Security Innovations Ltd, Avigilon & Ashdown Phillips have been tasked with further installations.
